Spectacular 5 star resort on the doorstep of Venice, with over 2 miles of sandy beaches, 2 water parks, over 15 restaurants and bars, and local markets that come to the resort! The 4 of us travelled with Alfresco, flying into Venice and taking a taxi which had been organised by the travel company. The flight was late in to Venice, however nothing could spoil the holiday spirit. We checked in at the main reception and a golf buggy was sent to pick us up and take us to our lodge complete with rattan furniture and a stunning deck.

Union Lido has so much to offer, and all activities are clearly outlined on their App including location and age appropriation, and most are completely free of charge, including all the evening entertainment. There is just so much to do and in 2 weeks we didn’t actually leave the site once! Did I mention the 2 amusement parks?! You will be issued a wrist band which allows you to be cash free, and you can pay for sunbeds and other spa areas within the resort.

We recommend that you pre-book any restaurant in the evening. Things like the Hog Roast by the pool are exceptionally popular. The shops on site have everything you need and there are two main supermarkets which are really reasonably priced; a good bottle of local organic white wine will cost about 6 Euros. There is also a bakery in the middle of the site which is amazing for picking up a couple of rolls to take out for a day at the beach or pool. In addition there are two fruit and veg shops with the most amazing fresh produce.

Mosquitoes are a real problem in this part of Italy, but we used the repellent wipes on the kids which seemed to keep them away!

We particularly enjoyed the mini discos and the shows at the smaller bars as we could see the kids at all points whilst enjoying the evening sun and a cocktail. Given the resort is full of families, our children were made to feel like special guests.
