Insotel Cala Mandia Resort & Spa
Passeig Federico Garcia Lorca, s/n, 07680 Cala Mendia, Illes Balears, Spain
One of the best family holiday hotels we've been on! The 2.5 hour flight from Gatwick to Majorca followed by an hour transfer to the hotel is extremely easy, even with 2 boys aged 4 and 2 years. We went during term-time.
The hotel staff were very friendly and courteous and booked us a room into area B which was very quiet. It had its own very nice pool bar/restaurant, swimming pool and baby pool (although the water was a little cooler than we would have liked!). If you have an option, I would recommend booking into area B. The main hotel is in area A where they have the main restaurant and bar so it can get noisy at night. Area C is the mini aqua-park, playground and tennis courts, all of which are busy during the day.
Our room was very clean, a good size and with a sliding door to separate our sleeping areas. It had a balcony overlooking the pool, but unfortunately there wasn't a bath though. Luckily the boys were happy to have a shower, but may be a little awkward if you have very young children.
The quality and variety of the food in all of the restaurants was fabulous. There was a wide variety of alcoholic beverages included in the all-inclusive price too. We did try the the kids club once but my oldest didn't really enjoy it. The kids evening entertainment was very European!! The adult evening entertainment was ... interesting! The beach was within walking distance which was nice, but was very busy with the locals. I would highly recommend a trip on the road train that stops just outside the hotel and takes you on a lovely ride to the Caves of Drach in Porto Cristo. Be prepared to walk deep underground for a while without a pram, but it'll be worth the end.
Overall, couldn't fault it and would highly recommend it!
