Manoir de Longeveau

Longeveau, 16390 Pillac, France

Nestled in the beautiful rural French countryside, surrounded in summer by the most gorgeous fields of sunflowers, Manoir de Longeveau is a little French paradise.

Newly released from Lockdown our family took the plunge in our first ever driving holiday heading to the south of France. And I can't believe we've never driven in France before! We broke up the trip with an overnight stay at Le Mans (not just for the kids but also for the petrol-heads in the family) which kept us all refreshed, plus the kids loved seeing the race track! Driving was easy, and even a not overly confident driver like myself was happy on the French roads. Clear signposting, lots of space, and beautiful countryside - what's not to like?

We picked Longeveau for it's beautiful setting, great kids' club and the fact we were new to self-catering family holidays. There was an option near every night to have catering with various food trucks (English fish and chips, pizzas and bar food) but the local supermarkets were great so we could dip in and out. The kids' club was very good with planned activities for the little ones and it has a large attached playground to use. There was also a pool for the site which had a lovely splash pool for the little ones (plus some of the villas have their own private pools).

For older kids they run activities like archery and tennis and the courts are floodlit so the fun continues until late. For the even bigger kids(!) it comes with a golf course as well (very popular with the locals).

The surrounding area and towns are beautiful with great cafes, supermarkets and activities (we went kayaking with the kids) and the owners of Longeveau could not have been more welcoming, accommodating any requests or questions we had - from obtaining a parasol for the garden to understanding the French oven! This was truly one of the best holidays I've had in a long time and the freedom of having the car was a game changer.

We'll definitely head back to our French paradise when we can!
