During a recent stay in the Cotswolds we discovered this little gem: Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens. And whilst I’ve been to many a Zoo or Nature Reserve I’ve not been to many that you can get so up close with the animals. The site is designed to have a feeling of space and although the animals are definitely enclosed many of these enclosures make use of trenches instead so you feel like you’re really close up to the animals.
There are lots to see including rhinos, giraffes, and lions (key staples according to my children) as well as smaller animals and reptiles, and there is plenty of space to picnic within the grounds if you choose to bring your own food. Lots of toilet facilities for little ones (all regularly spaced) and the tracks are all very buggy friendly. There is also a train to take you round the site - a complete bonus as you get to see the animals from a different perspective whilst also riding a train (and which child doesn’t like a train trip?).
A really lovely day out reasonably priced (children 2 and under go free) which we very much enjoyed.
