Shrek's Adventure!
Riverside Building, County Hall, Westminster Bridge Rd, London SE1 7PB, UK
Shrek's Adventure! is a fab day out for children and adults alike. If you are not London based, it is very easy to get to, it is situated right on Southbank, all you need to do is get to Waterloo and walk straight over the bridge and you are there!
When booking Shrek's Adventure!, you will be given a choice to choose your arrival time, this ensures that it is not overcrowded when you arrive and you and your little ones will be able to see what is going on.
Once you arrive, you will go through security checks and queue up briefly, which is not all bad as it has all of Dreamworks images painted throughout and tannoy music, talking with some adult innuendos to keep you amused! You and your family will be invited to go into the elevator where your adventure begins.
Once you get out of the elevator, there are toilets outside; I would recommend going before you walk around, as there is nowhere to stop once you start the tour. Once you've done that you will be greeted with a cloak room and a variety of Shrek headbands, lollies etc - no way to avoid, so be prepared for the kids to ask! Please note, you cannot take buggies around the tour for health and safety reasons, so bring a carrier if you have a baby.
You then have a photo opportunity, which you can view at the end of your tour. You cannot take photos throughout the tour, but at the end there is a whole Dreamworks section where you can take photos and take part in some interactive activities.
You then walk down the corridor and enter the departure lounge ready for your 4D Bus Tour! Please be aware, you will be expected to sing and have a boogie before you can move on! Audience participation is a must! It does make it all the more interesting though.
On the tour you will be faced with some very familiar characters, plenty of toilet humour and lots of fun. The staff are excellent and very enthusiastic. Some aspects might be a little scary for younger children, for example darkness and strobe lights but there’s nothing too bad. I won't go into too much detail about all of the attractions as I don't want to spoil it!
On exit, as with everywhere there is a gift shop, so either be prepared to pay or run! It's not too bad, on our trip we got a Donkey large size plush for £15 (I'll let you decide if that was reasonable or not!).
All in all, it's a fun experience, and lasts around 1.5 to 2 hours. My top tip is to look for 2 for 1 deals, or online offers before you book to save some money. You can also book online and tie in other attractions for a cheaper cost overall as well.
Enjoy!
