Last summer my family and I spent a wonderful week staying in Flaine, high up in the Alps at a hotel called Pierre et Vacances (same company as Center Parcs). We have 3 young children who at the time were 7, 5 and 2, so we wanted somewhere where they could experience a range of outdoor activities and enjoy a sense of freedom, and we could have a chance to relax in some stunning scenery. Overall, we were delighted by everything this hotel and resort had to offer.

The accommodation in the hotel was spacious and my boys had their own room and bathroom, and both a cot and a highchair were provided for our young daughter. Having a kitchen and a lounge area provided somewhere for my husband and I to relax in once the kids were in bed, and for family meals we had the option of dining inside or using the outdoor seating on our balcony. The hotel had an outdoor pool which the children loved but there wasn't a lot of room around it for lounging. The restaurant in the hotel was very family friendly and there was a small Spar in the adjacent hotel for buying essentials.

The resort of Flaine (a short 10 minute walk from our hotel) was fantastic for children and really made our holiday complete. On arrival at our hotel we were given a complementary resort card for every member of our family. This enabled us to join in all of Flaine's activities for children. Some of our favourites were: the large bouncy castle outdoor zone, horse riding, low and high ropes course, mini golf but they had many more. Most activities were free with the card and a couple, like the horse riding, you paid a small amount. The major plus for parents with multiple children is you are based in one place (with bars / cafes and restaurants aplenty) and the activities are very close together which means you can relax and watch the children and older children make a different activity choice and still be very close by. For us, this made for a very relaxing holiday and the children had a ball. We will definitely go back!
